Welcome to ConnectEDU. ConnectEDU, Inc. ("ConnectEDU") provides its service to you subject to the following Terms of Use which may be updated from time to time without notice to you.

In addition, when using particular ConnectEDU services ("Services"), you and ConnectEDU shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services which may be posted from time to time. All such guidelines or rules are hereby incorporated by reference into the Terms of Use. By accessing and using the domain http://www.connectedu.net and all subdomains (the "website"), you are agreeing to be legally bound by these Terms of Use.

  1. GENERAL.

    ConnectEDU provides users with access to a wealth of resources and information on-line to assist parents and high school students with the college search and admissions process. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features that augment or enhance the current Services shall be subject to these Terms of Use. You understand and agree that the Services provided through the website are provided "AS IS" and that ConnectEDU assumes no responsibility for the timeliness, accuracy or reliability of the Services, nor for any deletion, incorrect delivery, or failure to store any user communications or personalization settings.

    By using the website, you are representing to ConnectEDU that:
    • You are at least 14 years old (or the minimum legal age in the jurisdiction in which you are viewing this website).
    • You will not use the website for any unlawful purpose.
    • You understand and agree that ConnectEDU may discontinue or change the website and the Services at any time, without notice.
    • You also understand and agree that ConnectEDU may discontinue or restrict your use of this website and the Services for any reason without notice.
    • You are familiar with and agree to abide by these Terms of Use, including any updates or changes to these Terms of Use. In the event that you are unwilling or unable to abide by any amendments or changes to these Terms of Use, you will inform ConnectEDU immediately by e-mailing the Customer Support or by calling 1-888-748-8188 and your use of the Services and website will be terminated.
    • You will not upload files, or cause users to upload files, that contain viruses, corrupted files or any other similar software or programs that may adversely affect the operation of the Services or any other computer linked to the Service, including computers of other users.

  3. CONNECTEDU PROPRIETARY RIGHTS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

    The technology, ideas, concepts graphics, trademarks, service marks, trade dress, graphical user interfaces and computer software that enables or facilitates the Services, together with the collection of factual data associated with the Services and the website ("Content") is the property of ConnectEDU or its licensors, and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. Your use of the Services and this website and your access to the Content does not confer any right or license to use any of the Content for any purpose or by any means other than use in connection with the Service. This website and the Content may be used only for your personal and non-commercial use. You agree not to copy, reproduce, distribute, transmit, broadcast, circulate, modify, display, perform, publish, translate, create derivative works based upon, store, frame or link to any Content on the website without the express prior written consent of ConnectEDU, with this one exception: You may, on an occasional and irregular basis, reproduce, distribute, display or transmit an insubstantial portion of Content, for a noncommercial purpose and without charge, to a limited number of individuals, provided you include all copyright and other proprietary rights notices with such portion of the Content in the same form in which the notices appear on the website, the original source attribution, and the phrase in 14 point font "Used with permission from ConnectEDU, Inc." Under no circumstances are you permitted to post any Content from the website to forums, newsgroups, mail lists, electronic bulletin boards or other websites, without the prior written consent of ConnectEDU. To request consent for other matters, you may contact ConnectEDU by emailing Customer Support. You further agree not to reverse engineer any aspect of the Service or the Content, nor to use your access of the Content, the Service or the website to build or create a competitive product or service, or to create any product or service using ideas, features or functions similar to any aspect of the Content, website or the Services.

  4. MEMBER ACCOUNT, PASSWORD AND SECURITY.

    You will receive a password and account designation upon completing the ConnectEDU registration process and becoming a member. These passwords are the property of ConnectEDU and for security reasons must not be disclosed to any other party. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account, and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account. You agree to: (a) immediately notify ConnectEDU of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. ConnectEDU cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this Section.

  5. MEMBER CONDUCT IN FORUMS.

    You understand that all information, data, text, and other materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from whom such information, data, text, or materials originated. This means that you, and not ConnectEDU, are entirely responsible for all information, data, text, and other materials that you upload, post, e-mail, transmit, or otherwise make available via the website and the Service. You understand that any online interaction between a college, university, or community college admissions official and a student seeking admission or their parent is the responsibility of the parties to that interaction, and does not involve ConnectEDU. You agree that you will not use any robot, spider, other automatic device or manual process to monitor or copy any Content from, or interfere with the proper operation of the website or the Service.

    Use of Forums: Certain areas of this website enable you to access online forums where you can post messages and read messages posted by other users (the "Forums"). Some of the Forums topics are selected by ConnectEDU and others are created by users. ConnectEDU does not endorse, and specifically disclaims any responsibility or liability for, any content posted on the Forums, whether the topic is first selected by ConnectEDU or a user. The Forums are a free service provided to users of ConnectEDU. By posting or reading a message in the Forums, you agree to be bound by the following "rules of user conduct." If you do not want to be bound by these rules, then do not use the Forums.
    • You agree to be fully responsible for your own postings and agree to access and use the Forums at your own risk on an as-is basis.
    •You agree to post only messages that relate to the subject matter of the Forum.
    •You agree not to defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights of others.
    •You agree not to impersonate any person or entity, including, for example, a ConnectEDU employee or officer or a Forum leader, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
    •You agree not to post messages that contain material that is inappropriate, profane, defamatory, infringing, obscene or indecent. This includes any content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party. You agree to give attribution to others when you quote or paraphrase materials owned by others, and to limit your quotations to no more than 50 words.
    •You agree not to upload files, or cause users to upload files, that contain viruses, corrupted files or any other similar software or programs that may adversely affect the operation of another's computer.
    •You agree not to advertise or promote any goods or services in the Forums. This includes, among other things, "junk mail", "spam", "chain letters" and "pyramid schemes".
    •You agree not to conduct contests or distribute chain letters through the Forums.
    •You agree not to violate any applicable local, state, national or international law in connection with your use of the Forums. This includes, among other things, any securities law or regulation.
    •By posting a message, uploading a file or engaging in any other form of communication through a Forum, you are granting ConnectEDU a perpetual, royalty-free and irrevocable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, transmit, display, perform, sublicense, create derivative works based upon, transfer and sell any such messages, files or communications.
    •You agree to indemnify and hold ConnectEDU and its affiliates and their respective officers, directors and employees harmless from any claims, damages, losses or costs (including reasonable attorney's fees) that arise out of any of your postings and any material contained therein.

    What to do if you believe a posting violates these Terms of Use: If you believe that a posting in a Forum violates these Terms of Use, we encourage you to contact ConnectEDU by sending an e-mail to abuse@connectedu.net that identifies the applicable posting and the screen identity of the person who made the posting. ConnectEDU cannot guarantee that any action will be taken as a result of your e-mail.

    Monitoring of Member Conduct and Forums:

    While ConnectEDU has no obligation to monitor the use of the Services or conduct in the Forums, it may, from time to time, monitor how users conduct themselves when using the Services and/or the Forums to determine whether conduct or postings comply with these Terms of Use, to guide the discussion on the Forums, or for other reasons. ConnectEDU cannot and does not guarantee that it will post or continue to post every message or other content you or other users submit to the Service or any Forum. Also, ConnectEDU reserves the right to edit or abridge postings for any reason and to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or remove any information or materials submitted to the Service, in whole or in part, in ConnectEDU's sole discretion.

  6. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIMITATIONS ON LIABILITY.

    The website includes facts, views, opinions and recommendations of consultants, individuals and organizations not under the direct control of ConnectEDU. ConnectEDU and its Content licensors do not guarantee or warrant the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of, or otherwise endorse, these views, opinions and recommendations.     These Terms of Use, your rights and obligations and all actions contemplated by these Terms of Use will be governed by the laws of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as if these Terms of Use were a contract wholly entered into and wholly performed within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Neither this Agreement, nor your use of ConnectEDU Services or of this website creates an agency, partnership or employer/employee relationship between ConnectEDU and you. If any provision in these Terms of Use is invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect, and the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision. All rights not expressly granted herein are hereby reserved.

    These Terms of Use are the entire and final agreement regarding this website, its Content and the Services and supersede any prior or contemporaneous communications between ConnectEDU and you regarding this website, its Content and the Services.

  10. TERMINATION.

    You agree that ConnectEDU, in its sole discretion, may terminate your password, account (or any part thereof) or use of the website and the Service, and remove and discard any content within the website, for any reason, including without limitation, for lack of use or if ConnectEDU believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of these Terms of Use. ConnectEDU may also in its sole discretion and at any time discontinue providing Services to you, with or without notice. You agree that any termination of your access to the website and/or the Service under any provision of these Terms of Service may be effected without prior notice, and acknowledge and agree that ConnectEDU may immediately deactivate or delete your account and all related information and files in your account and bar any further access to such files or the services provided in the website.
